Neighborhood
Brockway Golf Course is a nine hole golf course repeatedly rated as one of the top 10 nine-hole courses in the country! We live right on the 3rd hole. The neighborhood is a mix of full time residents, second homeowners and other Vacation Rentals. It is a quiet, lovely neighborhood with people out for walks year round. Please drive slowly, respect quiet hours from 9pm-9am and wave hello to your neighbor.
Guest Access
The entire property is yours for the duration of your stay. Our hot tub maintenance provider comes between every stay, but on rare occasions may have to come during your stay.
Good to know
Our family lived in this home for 3.5 years as we remodeled it to prepare it for you, our guest. So there are the luxuries of a vacation rental with the comforts of a thoughtfully updated home. It was originally built in 1947 as a summer cabin on the golf course. Through landscaping and thoughtful updates, this home has been restored to its glory as an enjoyable cabin escape. The quarks of a small cabin are still there, such as VERY uneven floors and narrow staircase, but the comforts of modern living are tucked throughout, including an insulated Work-From-Home office Shed with full desk and cozy infrared space heater. Enter via the front door into the living room, or come around the back to the Mud Room with heated tile floors, washer and dryer, chest freezer, bench, custom shoe rack and plenty of outlets for your boot warmers. Enjoy the cozy living room with Samsung Frame TV (with high speed internet and ACCESS to all your favorite apps. You supply your own log ins, however) and modern gas stove (new in 2020). Dining at the West Elm table is most comfortable for two, but we also supply 2 folding chairs so that 4 people can dine together and a leaf for even more elbow room. The kitchen was fully remodeled in 2019 with quartz counters, full size dishwasher, gas range and giant toddler-bathtub-sized stainless steel sink. Custom uplighting in the open shelving allows you to show off your best wine or whiskey bottles. The under-counter double beverage fridges offer the same capacity as a normal sized fridge, but the small hassle of bending over is the trade off for wide open counter tops for pleasurable cooking prep. Please note that these refrigerators are technically beverage fridges, so they only get down to 39 degrees. They will keep your food safe to eat, but they will not keep veggies crisp as long as a traditional residential fridge will. We are a short walk to Safeway, so we recommend only buying the food you need for a few days at a time. The stairs to the second floor are narrow, but they have been carpeted for comfort and safety. Upstairs you will find both Queen bedrooms and a half bath we lovingly call a "luxury airline bathroom". It is small, but efficient and handy to have a toilet and sink upstairs near the bedrooms. Each room has a queen bed outfitted in comfortable linens. One bedroom has a TV, the other has a full glass sliding door to enjoy views of the snow falling in the neighborhood. Both rooms have blackout curtains for your comfort. Please note that the main heat source is the gas stove downstairs with the heat traveling up through the staircase into the bedrooms. One bedroom has a built in space heater so it can be heated when the door is closed, but the second room does not and will not be heated if the door is closed over night. The only full bathroom is found downstairs and while it is clean and functional, our little bathroom is where the 1940's really shine in this house. The shower is very small and can be a tight fit. Please see the photos in our listing of the shower to decide if it's a good fit for you. The handle is extended well overhead and the shampoo/conditioner/body wash are mounted to the wall to allow the maximum amount of space. We do have an instant hot water heater so at least you can take a nice long hot shower and won't use it all up for your housemates. The yard with hot tub, synthetic turf, putting green, dining area and gas fire pit with Adirondack chairs are a sight to behold. The fire pit and furniture is put away in winter, but we bring it back out as soon as the snow melts. Landscaping and fully enclosed fence were installed in the spring of 2021. Market lights hang over the hot tub for evening soaks, or shut them off for a sweeping view of stars. Please do not use the hot tub after 9pm quiet hours begin. The lawn is synthetic so it is guaranteed to be green and beautiful for your visit (or white and snowy!). The back portion of the yard is decomposed granite with a beautiful view of the 3rd hole and ladies tee of Brockway Golf Course as well as dining table, putting green and gas fire pit with Adirondack chairs (all put away in winter time when there is snow on the ground). The golf course is private property, but there is a gate for you to use if you are a guest of the golf course golfing and want to run into the property for a fresh cocktail :). Our private 3 hole putting green is the perfect spot to practice your putts before walking down to the nearby clubhouse for your tee time. Please note that we do not have a BBQ grill at this property. Also out in the yard is a large insulated Work-From-Home Shed Office. This space is an excellent spot to get "away" and get some work done. There is a large corner desk, comfortable office chair, space heater, wifi extender and plenty of outlets. In the summer, there is no Air Conditioning (pretty much anywhere in Tahoe, actually) so all your neighbors will have their windows open to enjoy the cool night air. That means that every whisper and sound you make outdoors at night carries into everyone's windows. Please respect quiet hours in our sweet, quiet neighborhood. There are fans in each bedroom and the home has new insulation in the roof so it will hold the cool night air through the daytime if you close the insulated curtains first thing in the morning. This same insulation helps keep the cabin cozy and snug through the winter months. We also provide HEPA air filters for the unfortunate "smoke season" we often experience in California. For those few weeks every year where it actually gets into the 80's during the day, it is still cool in the evenings, so the recommendation for Tahoe Cooling is to open all of the windows and shades at night to cool the house down, then close them in the morning to "trap" the cool air inside the house for the day. DOGS (please note: due to allergies we cannot accept any other type of pet): We welcome your pups here, but since this is first and foremost a house for humans, we ask that you help them with some basic manners. Most importantly, we do NOT permit dogs on the furniture in any way at all. Not with your blankets from home, not even if they are one of those hypoallergenic awesome allergy-free dogs :) We offer a nice temperpedic dog bed in the living room and second squishy bed upstairs, so they shouldn't be wanting for comfort while here, we promise! We ask that if you plan to ever leave your dog home alone, that you bring a crate and crate your pup when you are not home. Please DO NOT leave your pups alone in the backyard, even when you're home. Dogs tend to bark in unfamiliar places and we have great neighbors who don't deserve to have a dog barking at them. It is very, very important that your pup does not jump onto the hot tub cover. One nail puncture into the fabric of the cover and the waterproofing is completely ruined; water will get in and will freeze and break the cover. It is $1000 to purchase a new hot tub cover. Please note that our yard is fenced, but there are low railings on the deck and therefore a good jumper could easily make it out of the yard if they choose. It should also be noted that we have a LOT of wildlife here in Tahoe. Coyotes are the biggest concern with dogs as they are very smart and will send just one coyote to lure your dog back to the pack. If your dog is not on perfect recall and/or has a strong prey drive, we highly suggest keeping them leashed when outside of the fenced yard for their safety. You will see many dogs in Tahoe off-leash, so please be prepared for that as you visit various areas. The modern gas stove was installed in 2020 and is on a thermostat to keep you toasty warm for your stay. It is the only heat source for the whole house, however, so it can not be turned off in the winter to keep little curious hands safe. Our little cabin is unfortunately not suited for kids too young to understand to stay away...
Other Details to Note
12% Placer County Occupancy Tax is collected through Airbnb. Please note the tax in your cost breakdown. Tahoe has the BEST water! Not just in our gorgeous lake but also coming straight out of our taps. The water is clean, pure and is literally a gold medal national winner for Best Tap Water at the Great American Water Taste Test. (seriously, that's a thing ha!). So ditch the plastic and bring along a refillable bottle for the best of the best water in the country. Ring camera at front and back doors. Exterior only. The camera at the back door also overlooks most of the yard and hot tub. They will be recording during the reservation.

Once you're here, you can park your car and walk anywhere you need. To get to the ski resorts, you will want a car, but check out the Tahoe Area Regional Transit system (TART) for door-to-door FREE shuttle bus service around the whole North Shore including Northstar and the Crystal Bay Casinos! You can download the "TART Connect" app which works much like Uber. It's an incredible new service offered in the Summer and Winter seasons (limited hours in the Spring and Fall).
